Montgomery County announced 68 new coronavirus cases and no additional deaths on Thursday morning.
Data shows that of the 68 cases reported on Thursday, all 68 cases occurred within the community. The countywide total now stands at 11,579 confirmed positive cases.
In the North Penn area, Montgomery Township has the most cases with 292 and 30 deaths, followed by Lansdale Borough with 280 and 31 deaths, Hatfield Township with 217 and three deaths, Upper Gwynedd Township with 182 and 38 deaths, Towamencin Township with 176 and 27 deaths, Hatfield Borough with 41 cases and North Wales Borough with 32 cases.
Total cases in the North Penn area currently stand at 1,220 and 129 deaths. Total cases in the neighboring communities are as follows:
Totals across the surrounding municipalities currently stand at 1,328 cases and 110 deaths.
The countywide death toll from the coronavirus continues to stand at 830, of which more than 80% have come from residents of long-term care and congregate living facilities.
In the past seven days, there have been a total of 292 new cases reported in Montgomery County, which is a decrease of 19 over the previous week. Additionally, the county’s PCR Test Positivity Rate — which had been below 3% from Aug. 4 through Aug. 17 — is back above 3% and currently stands at 3.18% as of Sept. 11.
Also on Thursday, Pennsylvania reported 933 new coronavirus cases, bringing the state’s total to 147,923 confirmed positive cases. The state also announced that there were 10 additional confirmed deaths on Thursday, bringing the total to 7,913 confirmed deaths across the commonwealth.
In nursing and personal care homes, there are 22,095 resident cases of COVID-19, and 4,825 cases among employees, for a total of 26,920 at 957 distinct facilities in 61 counties. Out of the state’s total deaths, 5,327 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities.
To date, 10,251 healthcare workers have tested positive for the coronavirus. Hospitalization statistics show that 459 people are currently hospitalized across the commonwealth, of which 54 require the use of a ventilator. 20.3% of hospital beds and 25.3% of adult ICU beds are currently available.
In the last seven days, 176,997 tests have been administered in Pennsylvania, of which 5,700 returned positive results. The rate of positive tests for that period is 3.2%, according to state data.
As of Sept. 17, 1,721,275 tests have been negative for the coronavirus. 82% of those who have tested positive in Pennsylvania have since recovered, leaving approximately 26,626 active cases across the state.
