Police Investigating After Stolen Truck Crashes into House in Hatfield, Three Males Flee Scene

Hatfield Township Police are seeking public assistance in connection with their investigation into a stolen SUV that crashed into a home on Chapman Circle early Sunday morning.

According to the release, police were dispatched to the 1000 block of Chapman Circle at 4 a.m. on Aug. 31 for a report of a vehicle that had crashed into a building. Upon arrival, police discovered that a Chevrolet Avalanche had crashed into the rear of a townhome, causing extensive damage.

Witnesses told police that they saw three male occupants running away from the crash scene, and they were last seen running westbound on Walnut Street towards Lansdale Borough — where the vehicle had been reported stolen prior to the crash. Police searched the area but were unable to locate the males.

Investigators are asking any homeowners or businesses with video surveillance systems in the area of Chapman Circle, Cowpath Road between Lenhart Road and Fortuna Railroad Crossing, and Walnut Street between Cowpath Road and West Seventh Street, to check their footage from around 4 a.m. on Sunday to determine if they may have captured footage of anyone fleeing from the vehicle crash scene.

Anyone with information regarding the crash or the identities of the three males is asked to contact the Hatfield Township Police Department at 215-855-0903. Tips can also be submitted electronically by clicking here.

The incident comes nearly two weeks after three males were captured on surveillance breaking into vehicles and stealing an SUV from the 500 block of Derstine Avenue in Lansdale Borough. According to Lansdale Borough Police Chief Mike Trail, there is no known connection between the two incidents, though Trail added that police are still early in their investigation.
