The Drug Addiction and Resource Alliance (DARA) will host their first event of the year this week, via an online drug addiction forum scheduled for Thursday night from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The forum will feature discussions from Magisterial District Judge Andrea Duffy, who founded DARA in 2016, as well as Dr. Aviva Fohrer (medication assisted treatment), Melissa Mackolin (personal journey into recovery) and Lyn Truszkowski (practical updates for treatment). The event will be streamed live and can be viewed by clicking here.
“Our goal for all forums has always been to educate the public about addiction, decrease stigma—which is a major stumbling block for treatment—and provide necessary resource connections to those struggling with this epidemic,” said Duffy. “I am always amazed at the fantastic turnout at our forums, and I hope that this event will be no different. I like to call it ‘one stop shopping,’ since the forums are comprehensive and we understand that people want direct, practical information.”
A live Question and Answer period will follow the discussions on Thursday night, according to organizers.
DARA’s first event of the year was initially scheduled for March 19, but was ultimately cancelled due to the coronavirus shutdown. That event was scheduled to feature guest speaker David Uosikkinen, drummer from 1980’s band The Hooters, headlining the event.
