Colmar Fire Company Announces Death of Firefighter Edward ‘Gary’ Minnick

The Colmar Volunteer Fire Company announced the death of one of their firefighters on Friday morning.

Edward “Gary” Minnick died in the line of duty on Thursday evening. Minnick was a firefighter assigned to the fire company’s traffic division, and was currently serving as fire police captain, according to an official with the fire company.

“It is with great sorrow and sadness that we announce the Line of Duty Death of Edward "Gary" Minnick,” said the fire company, in a statement. “There are few words that we have now to express the loss that we all have suffered, not only personally, but as a department and community.”

Sources informed North Penn Now of Minnick’s passing on Thursday night. The same source indicated that Minnick died at the garage where Colmar Fire Company keeps their traffic unit, but that detail is unconfirmed at this time. Police notified his family a short time later.

“Please keep the family in your thoughts,” the statement from the fire company continues. “Rest easy, our friend. We’ve got it from here.”

North Penn Now would like to offer our sincerest condolences to the Minnick family, as well as his brothers and sisters in the fire service. We will be publishing a follow up to this story in the coming days, detailing his service and providing reactions to his passing. If we become aware of any fundraisers or efforts to aid his family, we will include it in the follow up.
