Report: Shots Fired Into Vehicle, At Least One Wounded in Lansdale

UPDATE 11:20 P.M.: Lansdale Police Chief Michael Trail confirmed to North Penn Now at the scene that one female victim sustained gunshot wounds. He characterized her injuries as life threatening, and said that Montgomery County homicide investigators were en route to the scene.

Trail described the incident as "very tragic," and said he would be issuing a press release sometime Sunday as the investigation progresses.

Original story follows:

A shooting has been reported outdoors at the intersection of East Hancock Street and Church Road in Lansdale Saturday evening.

At least one person, reported to be female, was wounded. A witness said they saw police performing chest compressions as the victim was being taken away by ambulance. According to unconfirmed reports, the victim suffered two gunshot wounds to the chest and one to the leg.

Multiple police calls of shots fired went out about 10:03 p.m. Saturday. Lansdale Police Department, Upper Gwynedd Police, and the Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale responded. Fairmount Fire Company assisted in closing the intersection in all directions for at least a one-block radius.

Motorists should avoid the area.

The shooting was into a car, according to dispatch notes and witnesses; a vehicle was pulled over partially on the curb, with multiple bullet holes visible in the vehicle. A second vehicle was reportedly seen leaving the area.

This is a developing story. North Penn Now will update the report as more details become available.
