Lower Gwynedd Police have provided an update to their investigation into the disappearance and death of 19-year-old Zoë Rogers — a Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School field hockey coach who was reported missing on Oct. 27 following a game in Southampton.
According to Lower Gwynedd Police Chief Paul Kenny, the investigation has been completed, and Rogers’ manner of death has been ruled a suicide. No further details were provided, as is commonplace for police when dealing with suicide incidents.
Rogers was last seen on Oct. 27 at 6:45 p.m. driving her 2019 silver Honda CRV, as she followed the field hockey bus from a game at Villa Joseph Marie High School in Southampton to the Lower Gwynedd Township school, according to a missing person post on social media. On Oct. 30, Gwynedd Mercy Academy announced that Rogers had been found dead via the school’s official Twitter account.
Her death was described as "sudden and tragic” by the school. No details have been released on the cause of her death or the whereabouts of where she was found.
"It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that we share the sudden and tragic loss of recent Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School alumna and field hockey coach Zoë Rogers. We ask that you pray for Zoë and her family as she is placed into the loving hands of Jesus,” wrote the school on Twitter.
Rogers graduated from the school in 2019. She attended UC Berkeley campus, and upon the campus closing due to COVID-19, Rogers returned to her alma mater to train and play with her club team.
