A Montgomery County man is facing nearly 200 felony charges stemming from an investigation by the Montgomery County Detective Bureau into the possession of child pornography.
Alan Jordan, 34, of Mont Clare, has been charged with 100 counts of possession of child pornography and 100 counts of criminal use of a communication facility in connection with the investigation.
On April 16, county detectives received a cybertip from Google via the National Center for Missing and Endangered Children regarding a Google account holder who had allegedly uploaded two images of child pornography to their account. Detectives traced the account Jordan’s residence in Mont Clare, and a search warrant was executed on June 18 at the home, according to a release from the district attorney’s office.
Upon arrival to serve the search warrant, investigators said police had to force entry as Jordan refused to open the door. After gaining entry, investigators said Jordan attempted to hide his cell phone and refused to provide the password to gain access to the phone’s contents. Investigators then used a “specialized service” to unlock the phone, according to the release.
A forensic analysis of Jordan’s phone allegedly uncovered 242 images of underage boys and girls engaged in sexual acts and sexual poses, police said. Some of the children in the images appeared to be infants and toddlers, investigators said.
Jordan was arraigned on Oct. 30 by Magisterial District Judge Richard Welsh, who set bail at $50,000 unsecured. Jordan was then released from custody, and his next court appearance is a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. on Nov. 18 in front of Judge Richard Welsh.
