Manheim Auto Auction Temporarily Lays Off More Than 150 Employees at Hatfield Location

Cox Automotive, the parent company of Manheim Auto Auction, has announced via a filing under the PA WARN Act that they have temporarily laid off more than 1,000 employees due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The filing states that 152 employees have been laid off at Manheim’s facility at 2280 Bethlehem Pike in Hatfield Township, along with another 682 employees in Penn Township and 305 employees in Cranberry Township. The layoffs became effective on May 17.

According to a report by Daniel Urie at PennLive.com, the company said that furloughed employees will remain eligible for benefits through the company, and Cox Automotive will continue to pay their portion of medical, dental, vision, life insurance and long-term disability coverage.

In the WARN filing, the company said that they do not currently know if any of the furloughs will be permanent, but added that unforeseeable circumstances may cause the company to revise their outlook.
