Bacco Italian Restaurant Sustains ‘Substantial’ Damage in Fire on Wednesday

Bacco Italian Restaurant in Upper Gwynedd Township sustained “substantial” damage during a fire on Wednesday afternoon.

Multiple area fire companies were dispatched to the 500 block of Dekalb Pike at 2:20 p.m. on May 13 for a report of a building fire. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered visible flames showing from the roof.

According to a report by Rachel Ravina at The Reporter, restaurant employees had been evacuated prior to the arrival of firefighters, and a portion of Dekalb Pike was closed as crews worked to contain and extinguish the blaze.

The fire, which was primarily in the roof area of the building, was placed under control shortly after 3 p.m. Ravina quotes Upper Gwynedd Fire Chief Eric Geiger in her report as stating that the roof sustained substantial damage as a result of the blaze.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and that investigation has since been turned over to the Upper Gwynedd Township Fire Marshal’s office.

In addition to the Upper Gwynedd Township Fire Department, units from the Upper Gwynedd Township Police Department, North Penn Fire Company, Fire Department of Montgomery Township, Fairmount Fire Company, Skippack Fire Company and Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale assisted at the scene.
