Montgomery County officials announced 101 new COVID-19 cases and three additional deaths on Monday afternoon, though those new cases and deaths represent a two-day increase due to the county not providing an update on May 10.
Those new case breakdown is as follows:
Data shows that of the combined 101 cases reported on Sunday and Monday, 18 occurred in long-term care facilities, leaving a total of 83 new cases reported outside of those facilities over the two-day period.
As of Monday afternoon, 93 of the county’s long-term care and congregate living facilities have reported positive cases, including 1,409 positive cases among residents and 562 positive cases among staff members.
Municipal totals and 14-day averages were not available at the time this article was posted, as the county website has not been updated since May 9.
Earlier on Monday, Pennsylvania reported 543 new coronavirus cases, bringing the state’s total to 57,154 cases. The state also announced 24 new confirmed deaths, bringing the total to 3,731 across the commonwealth.
In nursing and personal care homes, there are 11,801 resident cases of COVID-19, and 1,655 cases among employees, for a total of 13,456 at 540 distinct facilities in 44 counties. Out of the state’s total deaths, 2,552 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities
To date, 3,700 healthcare workers and more than 2,100 food industry workers across the commonwealth have tested positive for the coronavirus. Hospitalization statistics show that 2,176 people are currently hospitalized across the commonwealth, with 477 of those requiring the use of a ventilator. 44.8% of hospital beds and 38.3% of adult ICU beds are currently available.
As of May 11, 231,704 residents have tested negative for the coronavirus.
