Coronavirus Shutdown – Week Eight: Photos

It’s now been eight weeks since Governor Tom Wolf announced drastic mitigation efforts to combat the increasing spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.

On March 6, Pennsylvania confirmed its first case of the COVID-19 coronavirus. One week later, social distancing efforts were put in place in Montgomery County, and over the days and weeks that followed, the mitigation efforts evolved into a stay at home order, which has now been extended to June 4 for Montgomery County and others still in the red-phase of reopening.

As of 12:01 a.m. on May 8, there were 54,238 positive cases across the commonwealth, and more than 3,616 people have died.

Much will be written over the coming weeks, months and years about this period in our history. Articles and features will detail how we adapted, how we survived, what went wrong and what went right. In an effort to supplement the written part of the story, North Penn Now photographer Bob Kelly has decided to provide the visual side to the story.

Below, please view this week’s photo gallery, which highlights images from the eighth week of social distancing and mitigation efforts across the North Penn area.
