As supply needs for personal protective equipment (PPE) continue to surface across Montgomery County due to the coronavirus pandemic, one local pharmacist is hoping to rally the community and utilize his relationships with manufacturers and distributors to bring those critical supplies to the area.
Dr. Mayank “Mak” Amin, owner and operator of Skippack Pharmacy—located at 4118 Skippack Pike—has launched a GoFundMe page to raise funds from within the community, which will then be used to purchase PPE through his pharmacy’s supply lines and later distributed to local hospitals and healthcare facilities.
“After speaking to multiple emergency room chiefs and their staff over the last couple days, I know there is a need [for PPE],” said Amin. “They have asked for literally anything we can get for them.”
Amin, who picked up 10,000 masks from northern New Jersey on Sunday, said that he couldn’t just sit around and watch what was happening, and he hopes that through donations, he can continue to serve as a facilitator between distributors and healthcare workers on the front line of the pandemic.
The GoFundMe page is available here, and it further details the efforts of Amin and his staff to secure supplies and equipment for medical personnel. Additional information on the page includes contact information, a transparency declaration and information about volunteering.
