Police Seek Leads in Arson Investigation at Sumney Forge Shopping Center in Upper Gwynedd

Upper Gwynedd Township Police are seeking public assistance in regards to their investigation into a fire that occurred at the Sumney Forge Shopping Center on March 13.

Police and fire personnel were dispatched to the intersection of Sumneytown Pike and Valley Forge Road at 8:51 a.m. for a report of a fire. Dispatch notes indicate that the caller said they saw flames on the carpet inside of a vacant portion of the shopping center.

Units from the Upper Gwynedd Township Fire Department quickly extinguished the small fire, but investigators later determined that the fire appeared to have been started intentionally.

The release states that investigators have a few leads, but are requesting public assistance in securing more information. Anyone who was in the shopping center between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. on March 13 and noticed anything suspicious or out of the ordinary is asked to contact the Upper Gwynedd Township Police Department at 215-699-5861. Police added that they would also like to speak with anyone who has information about the fire, regardless of if they were in the area or not.
