Area Fire Companies Respond to Seventh Street Dwelling Fire on Wednesday Afternoon

Multiple area fire companies responded to a small residential fire in Lansdale Borough on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety, crews were dispatched to the 200 block of East Seventh Street at 4:24 p.m. on March 11 for a report of a fire in the second-floor bathroom of a twin home. Fairmount Fire Chief Joe Stockert said that he was the first to arrive on location, and encountered a smoke condition in the home.

Stockert said that a fan inside the second-floor bathroom had been on fire, but the fire was extinguished by the homeowner prior to the fire company’s arrival. Firefighters checked to see if the fire had extended into the attic, but found no signs of extension, Stockert said.

The home suffered minimal damage due to the fire, with most of it being contained to the bathroom ceiling. No injuries were reported, and the scene was cleared in under one hour.

In addition to the Fairmount Fire Company, units from Lansdale Borough Police Department, North Penn Fire Company, Fire Department of Montgomery Township and Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale assisted at the scene.
