Hundreds Attend Juneteenth Solidarity March in Lansdale Early Friday Evening

Hundreds of area residents, police chiefs and elected officials gathered at Lansdale Borough Hall early Friday evening to participate in a Juneteenth Solidarity March hosted by the Ambler NAACP.

The event featured speeches by Lansdale Borough Mayor Garry Herbert and Lansdale Police Chief Michael Trail, as well as several members of the Ambler NAACP including chapter president Shaykh Anwar Muhammad and Economic Development Committee Chairman Donald Lyons.

Following the speeches, demonstrators and officials joined together in taking a knee in remembrance of the black men and women who have died as a result of racism and racial injustice in America. After the remembrance, the group took to the streets, heading down Railroad Avenue to West Main Street, and then walking down to Richardson Avenue and back to Borough Hall.

A second rally is scheduled for Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. in Lansdale, with staging at Railroad Plaza. In the interim, check out our photos from Friday’s demonstration below.
