Following their impromptu closure caused by the coronavirus
pandemic in March, district courts across Montgomery County officially reopened
on June 1 — though in a limited capacity, and with hours set by each individual
court.
For District Court 38-1-28 (Magisterial District Judge Ed
Levine) in Lansdale, the hours and services are as follows:
- The court is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday,
Thursday and Friday
- Cash payments only on traffic and non-traffic tickets. Customers
are urged to use the county’s Epay
services, but if that is not an option, cash payments will be taken in-person.
- Masks are required in the court lobby, and the court will
limit how many people can be in the lobby at one time.
- The court is attempting to handle all criminal, traffic and
non-traffic matters virtually via Zoom. If you have a criminal matter and you
are not represented by private counsel or a public defender, please contact the
court so that we can set up a virtual pre-trial conference with the district
attorney’s office.
- All traffic/non-traffic tickets have been continued to a
virtual hearing date or scheduled for this fall. If you would like to have a
virtual status hearing to discuss your ticket with the issuing police
department, contact the court at 215-393-7534 or email [email protected] to schedule a
virtual conference date and time. Please have all your information prepared and
ready for review as well as contact information.
- All landlord/tenant matters filed before March 11 have been
rescheduled to a new date. All filings subsequent to March 11 are stayed until
July 10 for private landlord/tenant matters and July 25 for federally-funded
litigants.
-
Civil actions can now be filed and entered with the court. The court highly
recommends mailing-in civil filings as opposed to filing out and paying at the
courthouse. Civil matters with default dates that occurred during our closure
will be extended and notices resent to all parties.
Starting on June 16, the court will do weddings every
Tuesday from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., outside, in front of the courthouse. You must
call ahead of time to schedule and have the license ready.
