A powerful line of thunderstorms made its way through the area on Wednesday afternoon, knocking out power across Lansdale Borough, downing trees and leaving debris strewn amongst the area's streets and yards.
Nowhere was the damage more pronounced than the Stanbridge Apartments along the unit block of Jenkins Avenue, where the winds from the storm blew off a portion of the building's roof, leaving foam debris scattered across the block and a tarp dangling from high voltage lines in front of the building.
Residents of the building were initially allowed to stay inside of the building, but those residing on the top floor of the building have since been evacuated. Crews from the Fairmount Fire Company, Lansdale Borough Police Department, Fire Department of Montgomery Township, North Penn Fire Company and Lansdale Electric remain on scene at this time.
This is a breaking news story from North Penn Now. We will continue to update this article as more information becomes available.
