Two Airlifted Following Early Morning Crash with Heavy Entrapment on Bethlehem Pike

Two drivers were airlifted for treatment of injuries early Tuesday morning, following a two-vehicle crash with heavy entrapment on Bethlehem Pike in Hatfield Township.

According to the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred along the 400 block of Bethlehem Pike at 1:13 a.m. on July 13. Police said that arriving officers found a white Ford Transit 350HD box truck and a gray Honda Civic that had collided in the southbound lanes of Bethlehem Pike just past Trewigtown Road.

Both drivers were heavily trapped in their vehicles as a result of the crash, police said. Once freed from their vehicles, both drivers were then airlifted from the scene for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. A source told North Penn Now that one of the drivers sustained “heavy facial injuries.”

The portion of Bethlehem Pike between Advance Lane and Trewigtown Road was closed due to the crash, reports indicate. Police said the names of the drivers are being withheld, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Hatfield Township Police Department’s Highway Safety Unit.

Hatfield Township Police were assisted at the scene by units from Montgomery Township Police Department, Hatfield Fire Company, Colmar Fire Company, Fairmount Fire Company, Fire Department of Montgomery Township, Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale, JeffSTAT medevac and PennSTAR medevac.
