Coronavirus Update: County Total at 8,769 Cases, 811 Deaths

Montgomery County officials announced 21 new coronavirus cases and two additional deaths on Monday afternoon.

Data shows that of the 21 cases reported on Monday, one occurred in a long-term care facility and 20 were reported outside of those facilities. The countywide total now stands at 8,769 confirmed positive cases.

In the North Penn area, Lansdale Borough has the most cases with 251 and 31 deaths, followed by Montgomery Township with 228 and 30 deaths, Hatfield Township with 169 and three deaths, Upper Gwynedd Township with 137 and 37 deaths, Towamencin Township with 129 and 26 deaths, Hatfield Borough with 36 cases and North Wales Borough with 19 cases.

Total cases in the North Penn area currently stand at 968 and 127 deaths. Cases in the neighboring communities are as follows:

  • Souderton Borough – 88
  • Telford Borough – 39
  • Franconia Township – 89 and 12 deaths
  • Lower Salford Township – 84 and one death
  • Skippack Township – 88 and six deaths
  • Worcester Township – 70 and four deaths
  • Whitpain Township – 144 and 14 deaths
  • Lower Gwynedd Township – 163 and 34 deaths
  • Horsham Township – 234 and 38 deaths

Totals across the surrounding municipalities currently stand at 999 cases and 109 deaths.

The countywide death toll from the coronavirus now stands at 811, of which more than 80% have come from residents of long-term care and congregate living facilities.

No new county hospitalization data was available on Monday. In the past seven days, there have been a total of 233 new cases reported in Montgomery County, which is a decrease of 14 compared to the previous week.

Earlier on Monday, Pennsylvania reported 328 new coronavirus cases, bringing the state’s total to 95,742 cases. The state also announced seven new confirmed deaths, bringing the total to 6,911 across the commonwealth.

In nursing and personal care homes, there are 18,279 resident cases of COVID-19, and 3,481 cases among employees, for a total of 21,760 at 750 distinct facilities in 55 counties. Out of the state’s total deaths, 4,699 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities.

To date, 7,158 healthcare workers and more than 2,600 food industry workers across the commonwealth have tested positive for the coronavirus. Hospitalization statistics show that 683 people are currently hospitalized across the commonwealth, of which 92 require the use of a ventilator. 39.7% of hospital beds and 41.4% of adult ICU beds are currently available.

In the last seven days, 135,631 tests have been administered in Pennsylvania, of which 5,560 returned positive results. The rate of positive tests for that period 4.1%, according to state data.

As of July 13, 835,732 residents have tested negative for the coronavirus. 77% of those who have tested positive in Pennsylvania have since recovered.
