Lansdale Borough Police have confirmed that they are investigating a series of incidents involving a suspicious teenage male who approached multiple women in the area of York Avenue late last week.
On Friday evening, a female York Avenue resident posted to the West Ward Lansdale Neighborhood Watch Online Facebook group regarding a strange encounter that she had with a teen male earlier in the day. The woman stated that as she was entering her vehicle, she felt someone grab a hold of the driver’s side door. When she looked up, the woman said she saw a younger male who asked her for a ride to Fifth Street. The woman said she declined to give the teen a ride, though she added that he asked a second time and then said he told her she was beautiful and asked if she wanted to hang out.
When the woman stated that she was going to see her boyfriend, the teen reportedly said “Oh” and fled the scene on foot. The woman stated that the encounter was “creepy” and added that she was scared due to the teen prohibiting her from closing her car door.
Shortly after the post was created, a second woman commented that she had encountered the teen on York Avenue on the same day, and that he followed behind her while she was walking her dog and attempted to hug the woman. Like the first incident, the second woman said she was “extremely creeped out” and walked a few extra blocks to make sure he was no longer following her.
A third and fourth encounter surfaced within the comments on the initial post, with the third woman saying the teen scared her while she was running on Richardson Avenue by telling her she was beautiful and asking if she had a boyfriend. The fourth encounter was the same as the rest, with the teen approaching a female, stating she was beautiful and then asking questions.
When reached for comment, Lansdale Borough Police Chief Michael Trail stated that police are aware of the reports, and are actively investigating the incident. However, Trail added that there is currently no information or details that are available for release.
The woman involved in the first reported encounter described the teen as tall, 12 to 13 years old with a very slim build. He was reportedly wearing a black shirt, black shorts and a face mask, according to the women.
Anyone with information regarding these incidents should contact the Lansdale Borough Police Department at 215-368-1801. Tips can also be sent via email to [email protected].
