Police Warn of Tax, Police Association Scams

Upper Gwynedd Township Police are warning residents about two popular scams that have recently been circulating. Both of the releases can be read in their entirety below.

Tax Season Scam

Thousands of people have lost millions of dollars and their personal information to tax scams. We don't want you to be a victim.

Scammers use the regular mail, telephone, or email to set up individuals, businesses, payroll and tax professionals and scam them out of their hard earned money. The IRS WILL NOT initiate contact with taxpayers by email, text messages or social media channels to request personal or financial information.

If you receive any kind of communications from someone claiming to work for the IRS, DO NOT give out any personal information. For more information on tax season scams, click here.

Police Association Scam

We have received information that an individual is calling area residents soliciting donations for local police associations. This call is fraudulent and residents should NOT provide any personal information or payment details to the caller.

If you should receive a call like this, please report it to Upper Gwynedd Police Department at 215-699-5862.
