Lower Salford Township Police have released some of the details of the two-vehicle crash that occurred on Main Street on Wednesday night.
According to police, the incident occurred at 8:24 p.m. on Main Street near the intersection with Freed Road. One of the drivers—identified by police as a 35-year-old male from Glenside—became trapped in his vehicle and was unconscious when first responders arrived to the scene.
After being freed, the 35-year-old male was airlifted from the scene via JeffSTAT for treatment of a head injury, police said. The other driver—a 60-year-old male from Norristown—was uninjured in the crash.
According to Sgt. William O’Connell, the accident occurred when one of the vehicles turned in front of the striking vehicle. O’Connell said the crash remains under investigation, and charges are pending the completion of the investigation.
Police were assisted at the scene by units from the Harleysville Fire Company, Towamencin Fire Company, Harleysville area EMS and JeffSTAT medevac.
The scene was cleared and the road was reopened at 10:34 p.m.
