First Responders on Scene of Vehicle Crash with Entrapment, Injuries in Harleysville

UPDATE: Jan. 22, 8:57 p.m. - Sources state that the male has been freed from the vehicle, and has been airlifted from the scene.

Area first responders are currently on the scene of a two vehicle accident with entrapment and injuries in Lower Salford Township.

According to the Montgomery County Department of Public Service, the incident occurred at 8:24 p.m. on Main Street near the intersection with Freed Road. Sources tell North Penn Now that a male victim is trapped in one of the vehicles, and is currently unconscious.

A medevac is currently en route to the scene, and is expected to land at a nearby church. The extent of the injuries, as well as how many people are affected, is not known at this time.

Lower Salford Township Police Department is being assisted at the scene by units from the Harleysville Fire Company, Towamencin Fire Company, Harleysville area EMS and JeffSTAT medevac.

Main Street remains closed, and motorists are asked to avoid the area. The cause of the crash is currently unknown.
