Five members of Lansdale Borough Council were sworn-in during Monday night’s reorganization meeting at borough hall.
As part of the ceremony, council welcomed newcomer Meg Currie Teoh, who was elected to her first term in November and will replace longtime councilman Jack Hansen. Additionally, councilmen Bill Henning and B.J. Breish, who were previously appointed to fill the vacancies of former councilmen Jason Van Dame and Steve Malagari, were sworn-in following their successful elections in November 2019.
On the incumbent side, councilman Rich Digregorio was sworn-in following his successful election to a fourth term, and councilman Denton Burnell was sworn-in following his successful election to a third term on council.
Following the ceremony, members of council unanimously voted to appoint Denton Burnell as council president, and councilwoman Mary Fuller as vice president.
In its current composition, eight of the nine borough council seats are occupied by Democrats, with councilman Tom Work being the lone Republican. The mayor’s seat, occupied by Garry Herbert, is also Democrat.
2020 also marks the first time Lansdale Borough Council had three female members, consisting of Meg Currie Teoh, Carrie Hawkins Charlton and Mary Fuller.
