Inspectors with the Montgomery County Department of Health have threatened to close the Big Lots location in Lansdale, following a failed routine inspection on Jan. 3.
The threat comes on the heels of the discovery of “excessive rodent-like droppings” and “multiple dead rodents,” which the inspector allegedly observed in a rear warehousing area of the store. Additionally, the report cites expired milk and water damaged and/or missing ceiling tiles in the retail space and bathrooms among the nine total violations.
Inspectors informed Big Lots that they had to immediately clean and sanitize all affected areas, and the facility must be treated by a professional pest control service. A follow-up inspection is currently scheduled for Jan. 17.
The report states that failure to comply with those directions will result in immediate legal action and/or closure of the facility.
Efforts to reach the local Big Lots for comment have been unsuccessful. North Penn Now has also reached out to the Big Lots corporate public relations department for comment, but the phone number is perpetually busy and they have not responded to our email. Should we receive a response, we will update this article accordingly.
