A prominent local artist has been listed among 20 finalists for the 2020 Pabst Blue Ribbon Can Art Contest.
As of Friday morning, 38-year-old Kynn Peterkin, a North Penn High School Class of 1999 alum, found himself among the other finalists on the Pabst Blue Ribbon website. His submission, dubbed “Sugar Mega Battle Royale,” is listed as number 18 among the 20 competing images.
“I found out [Friday morning] that I made it in the 20 finalists for the Pabst Blue Ribbon art can contest,” said Peterkin. “I'm both shocked and excited. I had to check the page a few times to make sure I wasn't fooling myself.”
Peterkin is known locally and regionally for creating unique, comic-esque artistry, with popular series’ including Philadelphia sports mascots, Lego horror movies scenes, movie mash-ups and inspirational quotes from villains. He’s a frequent participant at art shows throughout the area, and is a recurring guest at Lansdale First Fridays.
An online voting portion of the contest was also launched on Friday morning, along with the announcement of finalists. To vote for Peterkin’s submission (number 18), click here.
