Woman’s Body Discovered Off of Sumneytown Pike, Police Investigating

Upper Gwynedd Township Police area investigating the discovery of a body that was found in the tree-line area off of Sumneytown Pike and Beaver Street in Upper Gwynedd Township on Sunday morning.

Police said they were dispatched to the scene on Feb. 23 at approximately 9 a.m. for a report of an unconscious subject, but responding officers determined that the subject was deceased. An on-scene investigation was conducted, which determined that no signs of foul play were present.

In an email to North Penn Now, Upper Gwynedd Township Police Chief David Duffy identified the deceased as a 67-year-old white female, and the preliminary investigation revealed there were no visible injuries at the scene. Duffy added that there were no initial findings of concern, but investigators are awaiting the results of the autopsy.

The incident remains under investigation by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office and the Upper Gwynedd Township Police Department’s Detective Division.
