Three Women Injured, One Airlifted Following Wednesday Afternoon Vehicle Crash on Bethlehem Pike

Hatfield Township Police have released the details of a vehicle accident that sent three women to the hospital on Wednesday afternoon.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Bethlehem Pike and Trewigtown Road at 1:29 p.m., and involved an Infiniti QX60 driven by an unidentified female with three female passengers and a Jeep Wrangler with an unidentified male driver and and elderly female passenger. According to Corporal Michael Sloan with the Hatfield Township Police Department, the Jeep made a left turn from Bethlehem Pike onto Trewigtown Road in front of the Infiniti, which was traveling southbound on Bethlehem Pike.

The Infiniti then struck the Jeep, police said.

As a result of the crash, the elderly female passenger in the Jeep became trapped inside the vehicle, requiring members of Hatfield and Colmar fire companies to extricate her from the vehicle. Once freed, she was airlifted from the scene via JeffSTAT to Abington Memorial Hospital with leg and arm injuries. Her current condition is unknown.

Two other females from the Infiniti were taken from the scene via ambulance to Lansdale Hospital with what police described as minor injuries.

In addition to Hatfield Township Police, units from the Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale, Hatfield Fire Company, Colmar Fire Company, Fairmount Fire Company, JeffSTAT and Colmar Fire Police assisted at the scene, which was cleared at 2:22 p.m.

Sloan told North Penn Now that it appears that there will be no charges filed at this time.

(Editor's note: a prior version of this article omitted the fact that Fairmount Fire Company was also dispatched to the scene. Though their presence was mentioned in the breaking news article from yesterday, it was mistakenly redacted from the follow up.)
