Charges Dismissed Against Lansdale Woman Accused of Stabbing Husband

Charges against a Lansdale woman who was accused of stabbing her husband last summer have been dismissed, following a negotiated plea agreement with prosecutors.

59-year-old Donna Fry was initially charged with felony aggravated assault, along with misdemeanor counts of simple assault, disorderly conduct, reckless endangerment, possession of an instrument of crime, and a summary count of harassment. [Note: the reckless endangerment and possession of an instrument of crime charges were later dropped at Fry’s preliminary hearing.]

As a result of a plea agreement with prosecutors on Tuesday morning, Fry entered a guilty plea to the summary harassment charge, and all other charges were dismissed. Court records indicate that Fry will face no further punishment as a result of the plea agreement.

“Ms. Fry has lived her entire life as a law abiding citizen,” said defense attorney Andrew Levin. “This resolution allows her to remain without a criminal conviction.”

The charges were initially filed on June 29, 2019, following a domestic incident in Lansdale Borough.

According to the criminal complaint, police were dispatched to the 700 block of West Third Street at 1:26 a.m. on June 29 for a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, police encountered the victim on the porch, who had suffered a stab wound to the right side of his stomach, along with a bite mark on his upper-right arm, the report states.

The victim told police that he and his wife—identified as Fry—had been drinking and having a good time until they started verbally arguing, the report states. Fry then physically attacked the victim, then retrieved a knife from the kitchen and stabbed him, according to the complaint.

Police located the knife in a drawer in the kitchen, which was identified by the victim as the one Fry allegedly used to stab him, the report states. The knife had been washed off prior to police arrival, according to the report.

The criminal complaint quoted Fry as stating that she did in fact stab her husband, but added that he kept going after her and she didn’t know what else to do. Fry stated that she wanted the victim to “back off her,” and that she did not actually go after him, the report states.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of the injury, and has since made a full recovery.
