The North Penn School District (NPSD) is proud to recognize Marisa Green, BSN, RN, CSN, school nurse at Montgomery Elementary School, for recently being chosen as the recipient of the School Nurse Excellence Award for the Southeast Region of Pennsylvania for 2020 by the Pennsylvania Association of School Nurses and Practitioners (PASNAP).
Throughout Marisa’s 13 year tenure at NPSD, she has also served as a districtwide substitute nurse and a staff nurse at Pennfield Middle School and General Nash Elementary School. She has spent the last 11 years as the school nurse at Montgomery Elementary.
“Marisa is a caring and sympathetic individual who is concerned about the physical, mental and emotional needs of our staff and students,” said TJ Seidenberger, Principal at Montgomery Elementary School. “The Montgomery school community is extremely lucky to have Mrs. Green as a part of our team!”
Marisa was nominated for this award by her peers for her outstanding service to the students and staff of all the schools she serves, a number that has recently climbed to 13 as Marisa has assumed the role of NPSD Elementary School Nurse Department Chair. According to colleagues, they value her expertise and she is viewed as a “go-to” individual whose counsel they trust.
“Mrs. Green’s department is comfortable reaching out to her with a variety of questions or concerns. She is a knowledgeable professional who will provide sound advice and judgment,” said Dr. Jenna Mancini Rufo, NPSD Assistant Superintendent. “Above all, Mrs. Green is student-focused and an advocate for children. She is kind, caring and empathic in her approach with students. She addresses student health needs with dignity and respect.”
This award entitles Marisa to be eligible for the prestigious National Association of School Nurses 2021 Pennsylvania School Nurse of the Year Award. The School Nurse Excellence Award will be presented to Marisa Green by PASNAP at an annual awards banquet on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at the Penn State Conference Center in State College, PA. Karen Skillman, NPSD School Nurse Department Chair, plans to attend the banquet in support of Marisa.
“She gives 110% in everything she does,” said Karen Skillman, NPSD School Nurse Department Chair. “Marisa is a valued and respected resource in the North Penn School District. I am thrilled her hard work and dedication to North Penn students, families and staff is being recognized with this award.”
