A 69-year-old woman was hospitalized following a three-vehicle crash on Valley Forge Road in Towamencin Township on Wednesday night.
According to the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety, emergency personnel were dispatched to the intersection with Jacks Lane at 9:15 p.m. for a report of a vehicle crash with entrapment and injuries. Towamencin Township Police Chief Tim Dickinson told North Penn Now that the crash involved three vehicles, and one of them became stuck upon a retaining wall.
Members of the Towamencin Volunteer Fire Company worked to extricate the driver, who was freed after the vehicle was stabilized and the door was removed. Dickinson said the drivers involved in the incident included a 37-year-old male, a 17-year-old female and a 69-year-old female.
The 69-year-old female was taken from the scene via ambulance to Abington Health Main Hospital with unknown injuries.
Police determined that the cause of the incident was a rear-end crash, but they have not yet determined if charges will be filed as the incident remains under investigation and review.
Towamencin Township Police were assisted at the scene by units from the Towamencin Volunteer Fire Company, Upper Gwynedd Township Police Department and Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale.
