Moviegoers Making a Difference for Manna on Main

(Editor’s note: the following is a press release from The Goldenberg Group.)

Since 1981, Manna on Main Street has been addressing the food needs of individuals and families—including children and seniors—in the North Penn region. Their core programs and services currently include Manna’s Kitchen (inclusive soup kitchen serving 40,000 meals each year), Manna’s Market (choice-model food pantry distributing more than 500,000 lbs. of groceries annually), emergency financial assistance (providing more than $100,000 each year, paid directly to service providers) and the Common Grounds Food Service Training to Employment Program—a free, 12-week, culinary, life and work skills training program.

Water Tower Cinema, a Goldenberg Group company, and Manna on Main Street are teaming up for the movie theater’s Community Giving program for the month of February. Throughout February, 20-percent from all concession sales on Mondays and Tuesdays at the movie theater will be donated to Manna on Main Street to support its ongoing operations and programs.

In addition, Water Tower Cinema will also hold special giving days on Feb. 16 through Feb. 18, allocating 50-percent from all concession sales on all three days to Manna on Main Street. Water Tower Cinema invites the Lansdale, Montgomeryville and surrounding communities to come support Manna on Main.

"Mission-driven social impact organizations like Manna on Main align with The Goldenberg Group's mission to uplift individuals and communities in the neighborhoods where we develop, life and work," said Teri Yago-Ryan, vice president of communications, enterprise and impact for The Goldenberg Group. "Our hope is that our moviegoers will make the choice to come to the theater on these special giving days, enjoy some popcorn, drinks and other concessions which, in turn, will be helping others right here in the community."

“We are honored to be selected as a recipient for the theater's community giving program," said Vince Caperelli, Jr., director of development for Manna on Main Street. “Proceeds from Water Tower Cinema's community giving campaign will go to support our ongoing operations, including our soup kitchen, food pantry and Common Grounds Training Program."
