Two men were hospitalized early Sunday morning after their vehicle overturned into a storage tank at the Hatfield Township Municipal Authority Main Sewer Plant.
According to officials, units were dispatched to the 3200 block of Advance Lane at 1:23 a.m. on Feb. 2 for a report of a vehicle accident with injuries. Upon arrival, first responders found a vehicle that had overturned into a retention runoff waterway, with one victim still trapped inside.
According to a release from the Colmar Fire Company, firefighters immediately worked to stabilize the vehicle and begin extrication. The report states that the victim was freed from the vehicle at 2:15 a.m.
Both the victim that was trapped, as well as a second victim that made it out of the vehicle, were taken via ambulance to Abington Memorial Hospital, according to the release. Hatfield Township Police described the victims’ injuries as non-life threatening.
Police said that the cause of the crash is unknown at this time, but the investigation is ongoing.
Hatfield Township Police Department and Colmar Fire Company were assisted at the scene by units from the Hatfield Fire Company, Fire Department of Montgomery Township, Hilltown Fire Company, the Montgomery County Urban Search and Rescue Team and Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale.
