Woman Arrested After Social Media Argument Leads to Confrontation with Firearm, Police Say

A Lansdale woman is facing multiple misdemeanor charges after she allegedly pointed a firearm at a male victim and used a baseball bat to smash out a window in his vehicle, following an argument between the two on social media.

Cieria Wynder, 28, has been charged with misdemeanor counts of making terroristic threats, simple assault, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and harassment, in connection with the incident in Upper Gwynedd Township.

According to the release, police received a report of a female armed with a handgun on Browning Court at 4:05 p.m. on Dec. 21. Initial reports indicated that the female had fired one round from the firearm through the window of a vehicle at the location and then fled the scene, police said.

Upon arrival, police made contact with a male victim who stated that he had gotten into an argument with a friend of his — later identified as Wynder — on social media, who then arrived at his front door a short time later, the report states. As the argument continued outside of the victim’s house, Wynder allegedly attempted to grab the victim’s arm and attempted to hit him in the face, police said.

After the victim pushed Wynder away, she reportedly retrieved a handgun from her vehicle and racked the slide while continuing back to the location of the argument, police said. The victim added that Wynder was waiving the handgun around and pointed it at him inches away from his face and chest, threatening to shoot him, the report states. The victim then returned to the inside of his home.

A few minutes after returning to his home, the victim and another resident said they saw Wynder with a baseball bat at the rear of a vehicle that was parked in their driveway, at which point Wynder allegedly broke the rear passenger-side window and then fled the scene, police said.

No shots were fired during the incident, police said.

Court records indicate that Wynder was taken into custody on Dec. 22, and she was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Suzan Leonard on Dec. 23, at which point bail was set at 10% of $5,000 cash. Wynder was then remanded to county jail after failing to post bail.

Wynder’s next court appearance is a preliminary hearing on Jan. 14 at 12:30 p.m. in front of Judge Leonard.
