Giuliano's: New Family, Familiar Flavors For Lansdale Favorite

When the new owners took the reins at Lansdale’s favorite family deli in June 2019, Bob and Tami DiPietro had no idea what was in store. They just wanted to continue the decades-long traditions and tastes at Giuliano’s Deli, 439 Chestnut Street (corner of Fifth and Chestnut).

"We still use the same vendors and the recipes Jim (Giuliano) taught us, how to make his hoagies and cheesesteaks,” says Tami. "People come up and tell us, ‘We Googled best cheesesteaks and best hoagies in Lansdale, and you came up first.’ We’re glad to hear that.”

Among the few tweaks here and there, Tami added her homemade cookies and specialties to the display rack — "I was always a baker, since I was a little girl, with a lot of my grandmom’s recipes.”

Then the pandemic hit. Like most small businesses, some customers were lost, particularly on the catering and corporate side. But Giuliano’s adapted, adding curbside pickup, which they still offer. "Fortunately, the nature of our business wasn’t changed terribly,” Tami says. "We are not an eat-in, and we don’t have alcohol.” And the regulars remained loyal.

"We still get the people that come in and say, ‘I’m living in Florida now, but whenever I come into town I have to stop here,’” Tami says. "We love hearing that, and we hope we’re doing right by the Giuliano name. They were gracious enough to let us keep the name.”

Offering pizza, burgers, deli wraps and sandwiches, roast beef, roast pork and barbecue, as well as salads and breakfasts, Giuliano’s is open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 7 to 2 Saturdays. Reach them on Facebook, at [email protected], or at (215) 368-0412.
