Montgomery County announced 239 new coronavirus cases and 14 additional deaths on Wednesday morning.
Data shows that of the 239 cases reported on Wednesday, six cases occurred at long-term care facilities, zero occurred at the county jail and the remaining 233 cases occurred within the community. The countywide total now stands at 24,658 confirmed positive cases.
North Penn Area Update

North Penn School District Update
School officials said they will resume daily updates on Dec. 7, once students return to their hybrid in-person schedules, but no cases have been reported since that time.

Montgomery County Update
The countywide death toll from the coronavirus now stands at 908. The 14 deaths reported on Wednesday are the highest single-day increase for Montgomery County since 15 deaths were reported on June 9.
In the past seven days, there have been a total of 3,273 new cases reported in Montgomery County, which is an increase of 1,187 cases compared to the previous week. Additionally, the county’s seven-day PCR Test Positivity Rate currently stands at 10.3% as of Dec. 3.
According to the Montgomery County COVID-19 Dashboard, and as of Dec. 9, there are currently 539 county residents who are hospitalized due to the coronavirus, of which 53 require the use of a ventilator.
A breakdown of cases by hospital is not available. Montgomery County is now averaging 382.8 new cases per day over the most recent 14-day period.
State Level Update
Also on Wednesday, Pennsylvania reported a total of 8,703 new cases, which brings the state’s total to 445,317 confirmed positive cases.
The state also announced that there were 220 additional confirmed deaths on Wednesday, bringing the total to 11,762 confirmed deaths across the commonwealth.
In nursing and personal care homes, there are 40,983 resident cases of COVID-19, and 7,585 cases among employees, for a total of 48,568 at 1,363 distinct facilities in 66 counties. Out of the state’s total deaths, 7,215 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities.
To date, 16,021 healthcare workers have tested positive for the coronavirus. Hospitalization statistics show that 5,852 people are currently hospitalized across the commonwealth, of which 675 require the use of a ventilator. 12.3% of medical/surgical beds and 12.8% of adult ICU beds are currently available.
Statewide percent positivity for the week of Nov. 27 through Dec. 3 stood at 14.4%.
As of Dec. 9, 2,972,594 tests have been negative for the coronavirus. About 58% of those who have tested positive in Pennsylvania have since recovered, leaving an estimated 187,033 active cases across the state.
