Montco Man Arrested After Investigators Find 7,000 Images of Child Pornography, DA Says

Edward Elvin Jr., 63, of Audubon.

A Montgomery County man is facing more than 100 felony charges after investigators allegedly found more than 7,000 images of child pornography on the man’s digital tablet.

Edward Elvin Jr., 63, of Audubon, has been charged with 100 felony counts of possession of child pornography and one felony count of criminal use of a communication facility in connection with the investigation.

Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele said county detectives received 25 cybertips from Google concerning a user account that contained more than 500 images of child pornography depicting children in sexual acts and poses. Investigators traced the account to Elvin, and a search warrant was executed on his residence on Oct. 28, the release states.

Investigators said they recovered a Dragon Touch tablet belonging to Elvin, and a forensic examination of the tablet allegedly revealed that it contained 7,366 images of child pornography, including 100 images of children under the age of 13 — many of which depicted babies and toddlers being sexually abused.

Elvin was taken into custody on Dec. 2 and arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Cathleen Rebar, who set bail at $25,000 unsecured along with the stipulation that Elvin refrain from using the internet and having contact with minors.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Jan. 5, 2021 at 11 a.m. in front of Judge Rebar.
