UPDATE: Dec. 3, 3:46 p.m. - Sources tell North Penn Now that the "rope" was a power cord that was vandalized from the bandshell theater area of the park.
Police said they received a report this morning concerning a suspicious object that was found hanging from a tree in the park, located along the 400 block of Whites Road in Lansdale Borough. Investigators said the object was determined to be an extension cord which was fashioned into a knotted loop on each end.
“This hateful and unacceptable display of racism is not welcome in Lansdale,” said Lansdale Borough Mayor Garry Herbert. “Lansdale is a diverse community that is better because of the unique value and perspective each race, gender, and sexual orientation adds to the community. Thankfully, the majority of residents in Lansdale embrace this perspective and repudiate hateful displays like the one found in the park earlier today. Lansdale will not let the hate of others divide our community; we stand united against racism and all the forms that it takes.”
Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Lansdale Borough Police Department at 215-368-1801 or via email at [email protected]. Tips can be made anonymously.
