As concerns continue to mount following the shooting death of 30-year-old Ebony Sequita Pack on Saturday night, Lansdale Borough Police Chief Michael Trail is urging residents to be patient as the investigation proceeds.
Pack, of Bucks County, was traveling westbound on East Hancock Street approaching the intersection with Church Road just before 10 p.m. on Saturday night, when a gunman discharged multiple shots in rapid succession into her driver’s side door. Pack’s vehicle then came to a stop on a nearby curb, and, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation, a second vehicle that is believed to be involved in the shooting immediately fled the scene.
Sources told North Penn Now that Pack was struck by multiple bullets during the shooting, including two gunshot wounds to the chest and one gunshot wound to her leg. She was transported from the scene via ambulance as first responders performed CPR, and she was later pronounced dead at Abington-Lansdale Hospital.
In the wake of the shooting, and with minimal details provided and the gunman still on the loose, many residents have expressed concerns regarding their safety, while others have speculated about the nature of the incident. In response to questions from North Penn Now, Trail said that he understands the public’s concerns.
"I, too, share the public's concern, as this kind of crime does not happen in our town,” said Trail. “But rest assured, Lansdale Police and the Montgomery County Detective Bureau are working to bring justice for Ebony Sequita Pack and relief to our community.”
Trail declined to answer multiple questions seeking further details of the incident, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation. But he added that a lack of publicly available details should not be misconstrued with non-progression of the investigation.
“Homicide investigations are, by their nature, very thorough and clandestine, and a lack of details for public release should not be construed as a lack of progress in the investigation,” said Trail.
As the investigation continues, Trail reiterated his call for public assistance in providing any information that could prove to be useful.
“If you were in, or around, the area of East Hancock Street and Church Road on Saturday, November 28, at approximately 10 p.m. and you saw anything you thought was not right, such as a suspicious person or speeding vehicles, please call the Lansdale Police or the Montgomery County Detective Bureau with your tips,” Trail said. “Tips can be anonymous, and even the smallest details can aid in the investigation."
