It took a pandemic for Round Guys Brewing Company to upgrade their kitchen! Say goodbye to dueling panini presses that cranked out an endless array of Iggies and countless small bite dishes, like the Lazy Roadie pretzel platter.
Say hello to burgers, flatbreads, wings and more!
For those not in the know, the last eight years certainly had its upticks. Winning awards, welcoming notable guests at the Underground and pumping out insane amounts of food with a system never designed to handle as much as it did all seems quite impressive. The prolific ability of the old tiny, dueling panini press system can’t be measured in sheer numbers. The kitchen that changed modestly during its first eight years met its fullest aspiration this past spring as Round Guys poured sizable investment to fully upgrade its facilities.
Prior to covid-19, Round Guys Brewing Company pumped out continuously ordered fresh pressed sandwiches and tasty sides. You recall them, right? I bet you remember the first time you enjoyed a Hasselhoff with German potato salad and a tasty Transmission IPA. Round Guys became a virtuoso of maximizing creativity against the constraint of what amounts to a little league baseball concession stand. All food came out freshly prepared using house made ingredients.
While the philosophy and intent hasn’t changed, the equipment sure has. Armed with fryers and a new six grill range, making a trip to Round Guys without enjoy their phenomenal fries feels borderline criminal!
It doesn’t just stop there. The menu’s grown up quite a bit. Driven by teamwork and shared input, the team at Round Guys offers naan flatbreads — both veggie and meat — after repurposing an initial Indian dish to meet more of the pub’s more generalized demands.
The next time you stop in, you’ll be able to treat yourself to a true taste of Buffalo, as envisioned by founder/owner Scott Rudich, a Buffalo native. These wings are never frozen, nor are they ever dripping in sauce. Expect rich, flavorful wings with a crisp, not chewy, texture and a sauce special that changes each week.
For as much as things change, they also stay the same. Round Guys Brewing Company’s often overlooked, but excellent, homemade desserts have not changed one bit. Baked at home by long-time Round Guys chef Jaimie Butowsky, these rich, flavorful desserts certainly warrant a second, third or fourth try. Take a look at their peanut butter pie, crème brulee and key lime cheesecake.
So sure, it probably did take a pandemic for Round Guys to update its kitchen. But it’s here! And you can order nearly everything in house or online for takeout. In addition, check out the new kid’s menu featuring chicken fingers, hot dogs, quesadillas and shells and cheese, all served with a side of vanilla ice cream!
