Lansdale Man Arrested After Providing Wrong Address to Sex Offender Registry: Police

A lifetime Megan’s Law offender is back behind bars, after Lansdale Borough Police discovered that he allegedly provided the wrong address for the registry upon his release from prison in June.

Daniel Kinion, 55, of Lansdale, is facing a single felony count of failing to provide accurate registration information, as a result of the investigation. Kinion was previously deemed a sexually violent predator in April 2009, following a conviction on charges including the aggravated indecent assault of a minor.

According to the criminal complaint, Kinion was registered with Pennsylvania State Police Megan’s Law Unit on June 1, 2020, ahead of his anticipated release from prison later that month. Kinion was released around June 17, and provided his address as the 100 block of Allison Court, the report states.

On June 30, police were dispatched to the address Kinion provided to the registry for a check-in, but discovered that he did not live there, the report states. However, investigators learned that Kinion was friends with one of the residents of the home, police said.

Several days later, police spoke to Kinion’s friend, who stated that he had not lived there since his release, and they believed he was residing in an apartment along the 300 block of North Broad Street, the report states. The friend provided police with Kinion’s cell phone number and said they had seen him earlier in the day, but efforts by police to reach Kinion were unsuccessful, according to the complaint.

After several weeks, Kinion was located and taken into custody. He was then charged with providing a false address to the registry.

Kinion was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Ed Levine, who set bail at $5,000 cash. Kinion was then remanded to county jail after failing to post bail.

(All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using court records and the affidavit of probable cause.)
