A Philadelphia man is facing nearly a dozen sexual assault charges, following an investigation by the Whitpain Township Police Department into the alleged sexual assault of a female teen victim.
Police said they were dispatched to a home in the Ambler section of Whitpain Township at 7:30 p.m. on March 10 to speak with the mother of the victim, who said she had become aware that her daughter had allegedly been sexually assaulted by 42-year-old Anthony King on multiple occasions.
Over the course the ensuing investigation, police learned that King had inappropriately touched the victim “numerous times,” according to the criminal complaint. The sexual assaults occurred at multiple locations, including at King’s office and inside of his vehicle, the report states.
At one point, the victim went to King’s residence to confront him about the alleged abuse, police said. During that incident, King reportedly gave the teen a brownie laced with marijuana and again attempted to sexually assault her, according to the complaint.
Then, on March 10, the victim told her friends, family and King’s wife about the abuse, which prompted the call to police, the report states.
As a result of the investigation, King was taken into custody on July 16 and charged with three felony counts of aggravated indecent assault along with felony counts of endangering the welfare of a minor, corruption of minors, unlawful contact with a minor and criminal solicitation – statutory sexual assault. King was also charged with three misdemeanor counts of indecent assault and one misdemeanor count of indecent exposure.
King was arraigned on July 16 by Magisterial District Judge Suzan Leonard, who set bail at $50,000 cash. King was then remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility after failing to post bail.
Court records indicate that King waived his preliminary hearing that was scheduled for July 30. In exchange, King’s bail was reduced to 10% of $50,000 cash, but he remains at county jail at this time.
No date has been set for King’s formal arraignment at county court.
(All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using court records and the affidavit of probable cause. Some details have been redacted in order to obfuscate the identity of the victim.)
