Power Outages Reported As High Winds, Storms Move Through Area

Multiple areas across the North Penn region are without power, as high winds and rain make their way across southeastern Pennsylvania.

According to PECO’s outage map, there are currently more than 1,700 customers in the area without power. In nearly all cases, the outages are attributed to severe weather, and crews have been dispatched to restore electricity.

A timeline for power restoration has not been provided at this time.

In Lansdale, Borough Manager John Ernst said that a tree fell on East Seventh Street that knocked out power to one residential property, but power has since been restored. Another location within the borough had tree branches hitting power wires which resulted in sparking, but no outage.

Ernst said no other outages have been reported within the borough.

The National Weather Service issued a Wind Advisory earlier today, which expires at 8 p.m. this evening. Additionally, a flood watch is in effect for the North Penn area through 2 p.m. on May 1.

(A prior version of this article listed more than 4,000 customers without power. Moments after the article was posted, one outage was repaired, lowering the total count. We have adjusted the number to reflect the current data.)
