Doodlery Art Studio Opening in Lansdale

A new art studio for kids is opening in North Wales. The Doodlery Art Studio will host free workshops for kids between the ages of 18 months and 11 years old. The Oct. 30 workshops are full, but the studio added new sessions for Nov. 1.

Sheila Angha, the founder and owner of the studio, located at 113 North Main Street, was inspired to open the studio when she saw how much her son loves to create art and get messy in the process.

“I wanted a special space for exactly that,” Angha said, “a place where all kids could let their imaginations run free.”

While most art studios focus on the end painting and mastering a specific art technique, the Doodlery focuses on the process and the experimentation that takes place from start to finish. The kids are provided with a little guidance, but, for the most part, they are free to do what they choose.

“Kids make their own decisions, take risks and create something that reflects their unique personality,” said Angha. “The end result may turn out wonderful, which is great, but that’s not the goal. We want kids to enjoy the process, make mistakes, get messy and most of all, have fun.”

At the moment, there are six-week workshops for kids to participate in, and Angha says they are planning to add open studio days where families can come in and check out the studio.
