First responders are currently at the scene of a two-vehicle accident with injuries on Sumneytown Pike in North Wales Borough.
According to the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred at 6:10 p.m. near the intersection with Prospect Avenue. Sources tell North Penn Now that crash involved two vehicles, with one that crashed into a utility pole.
North Penn Now photographer Bob Kelly said that one person was injured in the crash. Dispatch notes stated that a medevac was enroute to the scene, but it was later waived off and the victim was transported from the scene via ambulance.
The extent of the victim’s injuries are unknown at this time, as is the cause of the crash. Both vehicles are being towed from the scene, and Sumneytown Pike has been shutdown in the area of Prospect Avenue.
North Wales Borough Police are being assisted at the scene by units from the North Penn Fire Company, Upper Gwynedd Township Police Department and Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale.
(Editor's note: a prior version of this article stated that the man was transported to Lansdale Hospital, at which time a medevac was called in. We have since learned that the second call for a medevac was also waived off.)
