Fairmount Fire Co. Partners with North Montco Tech to Bring Easter Bunny to Lansdale

The Easter Bunny will be coming to Lansdale Borough on Saturday, thanks to a partnership between the Fairmount Fire Company and the North Montco Technical Career Center.

The Easter Bunny Run is scheduled to take place on April 11 beginning at 11 a.m. Fire company officials said the bunny will be chauffeured by a utility pickup truck and escorted by their special service vehicle and a Lansdale Borough Police Department cruiser. Additional units from the fire company may participate, depending on the staffing needs for the day.

The fire company plans to visit nearly every neighborhood in the borough, though some cross-streets and dead-ends may be skipped due to time restrictions. Officials said the bunny will pass by and wave, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, they will not be throwing candy or stopping for photos.

Fairmount officials said that North Montco Technical Career Center allowed them to use their suit at no cost, and even provided one of their employees, Chris Maiden, to play the role of the bunny.

Earlier this week, North Montco sent their bunny to a variety of neighborhoods across the North Penn area, and a similar effort is underway with the Upper Gwynedd Township Fire Department for Sunday.

Per the UGFD release:

After multiple requests, this Sunday we are going to do a modified Bunny event. We will have the Bunny on one of our fire trucks driving a specific route that covers a majority of Upper Gwynedd Township. The route will include the following roads:

  • Garfield Ave
  • Valley Forge Rd
  • Whites Rd
  • Broad St
  • Morris Rd
  • West Point Pike/Church Rd
  • Hancock Rd
  • North Wales Rd/Beaver St
  • and Sumneytown Pike

We will start at 9 a.m. and continue to drive the route until 11 a.m. making multiple passes barring any emergencies, our apparatus will not be stopping during the route. We will be joined by Upper Gwynedd Township Police as well.

While we are pleased to help spread the joy of the Bunny, we ask that if you are able to come to the route, be sure to maintain the recommended six feet social distancing guidelines as we try to ensure that the public and our members remain safe.
