Towamencin Township officials are reminding residents to abide by social distancing efforts, after receiving ongoing reports of crowding throughout the township’s park system.
“Everyone has a responsibility to follow social distancing measures—of six feet or more—with people who live outside of one’s household, regardless if they are close friends or even family,” reads the statement from the township. “We will be monitoring the parks over the next few days to ensure compliance for the safety of our entire community.”
Officials said that Fischer’s Park has been the primary location of concern, and if the crowded conditions do not improve, the township will have to close the parks to the public.
“We do not want to resort to this, with the beautiful weather and the need for all of us to get some exercise and a break from home,” officials said.
The township is asking residents to follow social distancing protocols and work together to keep the open space and trails available to the public. Towamencin’s plea to residents is similar to one made by Lansdale Borough officials several weeks ago.
