Montgomeryville Nursing Home Confirms Case of Coronavirus

ManorCare in Montgomery Township.

Another senior care center has been hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.

ManorCare Health Services, a nursing home at 640 Bethlehem Pike in Montgomeryville, has confirmed that at least one case of the coronavirus has been diagnosed at the facility.

According to a person who has a family member who is a resident at the facility, ManorCare contacted them to alert them of the situation. That person tells North Penn Now that, when asked if there were more than one case, officials responded that they could not provide that information—only that there was a positive case.

Officials said that they have converted part of their rehabilitation unit into an isolation unit for those with COVID-19, and any additional positives will be moved into the isolation unit. They stated that all of their staff are taking precautions and are following CDC guidelines, they have PPE and N95 masks, and they are deep cleaning on a regular basis.

At yesterday's Montgomery County press conference, Board of Commissioners Chair Dr. Valerie Arkoosh also provided an update on cases across the county’s nursing homes. She stated that 34 of the 75 nursing homes within the county are reporting a total 140 cases among residents and another 53 cases among staff members.

Arkoosh added that one unidentified Montgomery County nursing home has between 16 and 20 cases, and another has between 20 and 25 cases.
