Three Lansdale men are facing felony and misdemeanor charges after they allegedly attempted to kidnap a teen from Chalfont Borough during a drug deal gone bad.
According to a release from the Central Bucks Regional Police Department, police were dispatched to the area of Skyline Drive in Chalfont Borough at 2:10 p.m. on April 6 for a report of suspicious activity. Upon arrival, police were waived down by a 14-year-old male who stated that he had arranged to buy drugs through social media and had entered the suspects’ vehicle.
The victim told police that that once he was inside the vehicle, he told the suspects that he did not have money on him and he would need to return to his residence, the report states. The suspects then reportedly stated “you’re going to die if you mess with me” and “I’m going to kill you” as they drove through neighborhood streets, according to the report.
The victim then attempted to exit the vehicle, at which point one of the suspects yelled “get the gun,” police said. The victim then forced the car door open and jumped from the vehicle, which was moving at a high rate of speed, the report states. The rear-tire of the vehicle then hit the victim, causing cuts and bruises, police said.
The report states that the victim ran from the vehicle, and the suspects gave chase but were not present at the time of police arrival. The suspects’ vehicle was located a short time later, and its three occupants— Arif Chowdhury, 23, Mehdi Mollah, 24, and Fardin Sadib, 21, all of Lansdale—were taken into custody.
As a result of the incident, Chowdhury, Mollah and Sadib have been charged with felony counts of kidnapping, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, unlawful restraint, possession with intent to deliver and criminal use of a communication facility, as well as misdemeanor charges of corruption of minors, terroristic threats, reckless endangerment and simple assault.
For 24-year-old Mollah, it is his fifth arrest in 13 months. Mollah currently has four active cases in Montgomery County, and was free on bail at the time of Monday’s incident.
Mollah was arraigned on the new charges on April 6 by Magisterial District Judge William Benz, who set bail at 10-percent of $100,000 cash. He was then remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility after failing to post.
Chowdhury and Sadib were also remanded after failing to post 10-percent of $100,000 bail.
