An employee at Whole Foods on Bethlehem Pike in the Spring House section of Lower Gwynedd Township has tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus.
Though the store has made no official announcement, North Penn Now has secured a recording of a voicemail left by the store’s manager, notifying employees of the positive test. In the recording, the manager states that he has been informed that a "team member” has been diagnosed with the COVID-19 coronavirus, and adds that the store is following local guidance from the health department.
The employee last worked at the store on March 30, according to the voicemail. Corroborating documentation that was submitted to North Penn Now shows that the employee works roughly once a month in the store’s prepared foods section, and the local management team was working to identify and quarantine other employees who had prolonged contact with the employee that tested positive.
As of the time this article is being published, at least one other employee has been quarantined due to potential exposure. Additionally, North Penn Now has learned that the store received a deep cleaning during the evening hours of April 5.
Whole Foods has not responded to North Penn Now's questions and repeated requests for comment. We will update this story if and when responses are received.See also:
